Our Story

Daughters of Both Suns is a trauma-informed nonprofit rooted in the belief that healing is a birthright—especially for Black and Latina women who have long been underserved, overlooked, and silenced. We provide bilingual crisis support, access to therapy, and culturally grounded healing spaces for women navigating trauma, grief, and systemic injustice.
Our name honors the duality of identity carried by women of the African and Latin diasporas. We are the daughters of two suns—of ancestral fire and enduring light. Through connection, culture, and care, we rise.

Our Mission & Vision

Culturally rooted care. Real healing.

At Daughters of Both Suns, we honor the dual brilliance of Black and Latina women—women who carry the weight of generational narratives yet walk toward wholeness. We believe healing isn't a luxury—it’s a birthright, one deeply rooted in culture, community, and collective care.

  • Mission

To provide bilingual crisis support, trauma-informed therapy, healing circles, and resource navigation for Black and Latina women—creating culturally grounded pathways to healing, resilience, and recovery.

  • Vision

We envision a world where healing is a birthright for every Black and Brown woman—a world where culturally responsive mental health care is accessible, safe, and transformative, and where community and culture guide the journey from trauma to strength.
